Upholstery workshop

Our workshops are designed for beginners looking for a one-day taster course to find out if upholstery is for them and those committed to a larger project.

For beginners, a footstool, dining chair with drop in seat or piano stool are ideal and can be completed on a one-day course. If you are working on a bigger project, just choose the dates that suit you. Specialist tools such as staplers, needles and button making equipment will be available to borrow.

You are welcome to visit any course before deciding if these workshops are for you. We are available to provide advice and discuss what you would like to achieve. Be inspired by the wide variety of chairs that are brought along for rejuvenation. We really believe that you learn from each other and not just from the tutors. Enjoy the chat and homemade cakes!

• There is parking on site and easy access to the venue
• You will be working on your own piece of furniture
• Before coming, take off all the old materials and make sure there are no wobbly joints
• An ideal frame is made of “proper” wood because MDF and veneered wood can be difficult to work with
• Bring your final fabric and any trimmings. Follow this link for more information
• We will provide tuition, a set of tools and all the materials to re-construct your furniture
• These materials can be purchased during the workshop (approx cost £10)
• The sets of tools provided for your use have been checked and cleaned prior to the workshop
• Bring a picnic lunch and your own mug – we will provide cake, tea and coffee
