Upholstery Workshops near Edinburgh

These workshops are designed for those with little or no upholstery experience. Would you like to bring a cherished piece of furniture back to life, working to professional standards?

The emphasis is on traditional furniture where you will learn webbing, how to attach springs, make horsehair padding and choose the right materials to provide a delightful and professional finish.

These workshops are designed for all skills levels, including beginners.

At our workshops will be those coming to try out upholstery, while others will be coming for a number of days to work on more demanding pieces. We believe this “mix and match” way of running courses gives beginners a chance to see and be inspired by the wide variety of chairs brought along for rejuvenation. We really believe you can learn as much from each other as from the tutors.

You can choose what suits you. Perhaps you only want to come for 1 day; maybe you need to pick and choose dates because of other commitments or perhaps you have signed up for as many days as you need to complete your chosen item – the choice is yours!

The workshops are based at easily accessible venues near Edinburgh, but we also have students coming from further afield. Check our calendar for details. All venues provide parking and easy access to minimise the effort required to lift furniture and tools from your car to where you will be working. Some venues provide lunch and others are self catering. Chose the option that suits you.

You are welcome to drop in to any of our classes to see what we do.

Really enjoyed yesterday’s class. Re-upholstered a little chair that had belonged to my late Nana and it was very rewarding to revitalise it. Friendly, able tutors who gave everyone all the help they needed to achieve excellent results on a huge array of projects from fairly simple to very complicated. Highly recommend.

Wonderful class with fantastic 1:1 tuition and space to learn. Cake is a real treat as is the chat. I’ve been back 8 times now as my chair was a big project but it’s been so worth it.

I absolutely loved attending the workshops, I’ve done 3 days now & so happy I have finished my chair. Lovely tutors, small groups so you learn a lot, plus cake. Thank you Rose and Kate, I’ll be back!
